Setting Up The Homepagetop

  1. First you need to create your page that want to assigned as your homepage. For example create a normal page with the Default Template.
  2. Then go to Settings > Reading from the main WordPress menu.
  3. Select the static page option and select the page you want from the Front Page dropdown box, even if you are using the blog template.
  4. Click Save Changes.

  1. To create the main menu you simply go to Appearance > Menus.
  2. You then create the menu you want.
  3. In the Theme Locations box in the top left of the Menus page set the Primary Navigation to the menu you have created.

Creating A Slideshowtop

Creating A Slide

  1. First you need to go to Slides > Add New.
  2. First give the slide a title and define the slide order in the Slide Order box under the title.
  3. The Featured Image controls the image of the slide. Choose the image you want, expand to view the images’ settings by clicking Show. Then select Use as Featured Image.
  4. Click Publish and you have created a slide.

Adding A Slide to a Slider

  1. First you need to create a slider. You can create a slider by going to the Sliders box to the right of the screen where you create and edit slides. Theres a blue link saying + Add New Slideshow. You can also create sliders by going to Slides > Slideshows.
  2. Once you’ve created one go back to the slide page editor where you create and edit slides.
  3. Tick the slideshow(s) you want the slide to be in. That’s it!

Adding A Slider to A Page

  1. Select one of the slideshow page templates, click Publish or Update.
  2. Scroll down youll see a drop down box to select the slider you want to show.
  3. That’s It!

Portfoliostop

Portfolio Items are exactly the same as Posts apart from you can can add them into a grid and they have additional settings.

Adding a Portfolio Grid to a Page

  1. Select one of the portfolio templates then click Publish or Update.
  2. Scroll down and youll see options for adding your portfolio to a page.
  3. To be more specific there’s a dropdown box to choose your portfolio.
  4. Thats It!

Creating A Custom Sidebar

  1. First, go to Appearance > Sidebars
  2. On the first panel enter the name of the sidebar and click Add Sidebar.
  3. That’s It! You can now go to the Appearance > Widgets section and start adding widgets to your new sidebar.
  4. The theme will give you an option to select the custom sidebar under the page editor of the page you are working on.
  5. it is a dropdown box and you need to update the page in order for the sidebar to be selected.

Creating A Wall Item

  1. First go to Wall Items > Add New.
  2. Give the Wall Item a title and click Publish.
  3. Select the type of wall item and fill in the necessary fields. Each field is explained underneath itself.
  4. Thats It!

Adding A Wall Item to a Wall

  1. First you need to create a wall. You can create a wall by going to the Walls box to the right of the screen where you create and edit wall items. Theres a blue link saying + Add New Wall. You can also create walls by going to Wall Items > Walls.
  2. Tick the box of the Walls you want the wall item to be displayed in. Click Publish or Update.
  3. Thats It!

Adding A Wall to a Page

  1. On the page you want the wall to be displayed on, select the jQuery Wall Portfolio Template then click Update or Publish
  2. Then scroll down and fill in the fields that appear. You select the wall from the dropdown box.
  3. Thats It!

Galleriestop

Creating A Gallery

Creating a gallery with Village is easy and quick. To create a gallery simply go to Galleries > Add New.

  1. Firstly you need to give the gallery a title then update the page.
  2. Click Upload and then you will be prompted to upload your images.
  3. Once you have uploaded your images make sure you click Save Changes located at the bottom of the popup window.
  4. Then you can click the adjacent button to a live preview of your gallery.
  5. There are additional settings for each gallery image that you may wish to use which are; “External Link”, “Lightbox Link”.
  6. If you want to change the label of the gallery image then edit the Title attribute of the image by clicking the Show tab.
  7. You can rearrange gallery images by dragging and dropping in the Upload > Gallery tab popup section.
  8. To delete an image from a gallery expand the settings of the image by clicking the Show tab and click Delete.

Adding A Gallery To A Page

  1. Firstly create a new page or open an existing one.
  2. Select the Gallery Template.
  3. New options will appear in the box under the editor entitled Village Page Settings.
  4. Choose the gallery you just created from the first dropdown box. Then select the type of gallery you want to display.
  5. Then choose the orientation of the thumbnails for the gallery page.
  6. Click Update or Publish and that’s it the gallery will now be attached to the page.


Using Shortcodestop

  1. Shortcodes are found using the built in shortcode generator found in the visual editor.
  2. Select a shortcode.
  3. If extra options pop down fill them in.
  4. Switch to the HTML Editor. (You can always switch back to the visual editor afterwards).
  5. Click Generate Shortcode and your shortcode syntax will appear.

Creating A Backgroundtop

Creating A Background

    1. Go to Backgrounds > Add New
    2. Give the background a title and click Publish.
    3. The image for the background is controlled by the Featured Image. You can also select a slideshow, vimeo video or youtube video for the background. Extra settings will appear when you select an option. If you want a background with just one image, use the featured image and not a slideshow containing one image.
    4. Click Publish & That’s It!

Adding A Background to a page

  1. Go to the page you want the background to be applied too.
  2. Under the editor you should see the Background option with a drop down. Select one. If you leave this blank the first Background post will be displayed.

Creating A Contact Formtop

    1. Adding a contact form is as easy as this:
    2. When your creating or editing a page, select the Contact page template.
    3. You will need to add your email address to the Appearance > Theme Options > Admin Email option.

Creating A Blogtop

  1. Create a new page via Pages > Add New.
  2. Select the blog template.
  3. Unselect the Posts Page option completely in Settings > Reading.
